Helping friends get ready for baby

I've been away from the blog because I helped throw a baby shower on Saturday for a good friend, Sarita. It was a smashing success and we all had a great time. I've been making her several things over the past few months, including a quilt, bibs, burp cloths, a tote bag, etc. But wouldn't you know it - I forgot to take photos! Luckily, the items are still at the house where we had the baby shower, so I'm going to sneak by sometime soon and get my photos.

I do have photos of the favors I made. I had so much fun putting them together. Originally, I was going to bake cookies, but my schedule changed and I didn't want to spend all of Friday night over a hot oven. So I put together a non-perishable gift bag.

Along with some candy, I made little bookmarks with the image our friend Kenna made for the invitation.

But the cutest part of the favor was inspired from Sally Shim's beautiful button magnets.

The fabric is from the quilt I made for Sarita, I loved the fact that everyone would be taking home a little piece of it! I know it's pretty much plagiarism, but I figured since I'm not selling them... it's flattery?

I also finished my sashiko project. I really enjoyed the process, so soothing and meditative. I created two little mats out of the napkin.

Rob and I are throwing another baby shower for good friends of ours, Ryan and Megan. Hopefully I'll remember to take photos of their presents before we give them!

Everything is so cute! Those napkins are so pretty too! I wouldn't want to wipe anything with them. Where did you learn the sashiko?

I love the magnets! (what a great way to use up extra fabric!) I think as long as you're not trying to sell them under her name, you're fine.

Classy party favors! And your stitching on the sashiko is very neatly done!

I love that shashiko project, so simple and elegant. I have always wanted to try it. The party favors will be a big hit too, very cute.
