Big totes and even bigger cats

It's been a busy couple of weeks, but I managed to squeeze in a project today.

It's a modified really big tote bag from the Lotta Jansdotter book I got in Japan. And I made it out of Lotta fabric too! The strap is wide and easy to carry - I love it!

It's the annual viewing of the most used knitted object I've ever made. Anyone remember what it is?

It's one of the Kitty Pis I made... two years ago? I think that's right. Doesn't Maggie look extra snug in it? That's because Rob decided to wash them, and they shrunk just a bit more.

Look at that sweet face!

Of course, where ever Maggie sleeps, Unki is soon to be found. The next day, I found Unki in the Pi, but does he fit?

Unki, you look like a hot dog in the Pi!

You can't even fit your nonexistent tail!

Unki is officially a big boy, he weighs 14.15 pounds. We tell him he's husky and he wears his weight well.

Cute bag! I think I gave my kitty pi to goodwill. The boys NEVER used it. Unki is really big. Simon weighs in at 12.8 pounds, but he is tall, long and lean, so he doesn't look like he is that heavy.

Your tote is HUGE! Wow! This would be perfect for the farmer's market or for swim lessons - towels, etc...cool!!! Nice work.

Adorable bag! Is it simple to make? (As in simple enough that a non-sewer like me could make a similar one?)

The cats crack me up. I love how Unki looks like he doesn't even care that he doesn't fit in the kitty pi -- he's got that look on his face that says, "I know I don't fit, but if Maggie's using this thing, then so am I."

Great bag! I just bought the Jansdotter book and am looking forward to trying out some of the patterns. We have 2 cats as well, weighing in at 13 and 15 pounds each. The 13 pounder still maintains that long and lean look, but the 15 pounder is a definite chubb. Although we refer to him as "big-boned." ;)

Awwww, cute kitties! I think I should knit some kitty pi's because my cat Sebastian has a hard time fitting into regular cat beds (he weighs in at about 21 pounds)...
Love the bag, it's beautiful! You are brave to do the contrasting stitching like that! :D

Nice big bag ... but be careful with big bag like that. I always find my shoulder being sore carrying big bag because I tend to put lots of thing inside.
Mmm ... for some reason I don't know what, I find the pictures of big cats in small kitty beds hilarious! :)

I just made myself a HUGE bag too. I think it's a big bag sort of fall, if fall ever decides to come to Brooklyn.
