Green Gable-y Goodness

I promised over a week ago to have a photo of my finished green gable sweater. Here it is!

Pattern - Green Gable Sweater, size S
Yarn - 3 balls of GGH Bali in Gray, size 4 & 6 needles

It's been three months since I finished a sweater, so I wanted a fairly simple pattern to work on. This was the perfect one to get me back on my feet. I really love this sweater. Comfy, cute details, and easy to make. I don't know if I'd recommend it for a first sweater, only because the pattern is a bit tricky if you don't know how a top-down sweater is constructed.

I only made two changes. I added waist shaping (there were decreases but no increases in the pattern) and I lengthend it by one inch. I think both mods were a good idea. I wouldn't have been comfortable if the sweater were any shorter.

I can't say enough about the yarn! I had the GGH Bali in my stash, and to be honest, I wasn't looking forward to working with cotton. But this yarn is very easy on the hands. I don't think it's as forgiving as wool (some wonky stitches got through) but I would highly recommend it as a substitute for the Cotton Fleece; I easily got gauge and it comes in a variety of colors.

My next goal is to get through this week and finish some lingering projects I never got around to finishing.

Oh Deep-V Argyle Vest, your siren's song is calling me. I promise to finish you soon!

Urban Aran... sigh... I need to figure out if you are going to be a cardigan or a pullover. But I will work valiently on your back and sleeves until then.

Beautiful! Fits you so well, probably as a result of your mods. Good luck on your next projects!

Your Green Gable is beautiful! I'm making it also and I've been contemplating adding some increases at the hip as well. Glad you liked the Bali, it's on my list of yarns to try.

It's gorgeous and the fit is spot on! I'm curious, how did you factor your increases for waist shaping? I'm planning to do that as well and would appreciate any pointers.

Aw! Grey Gables looks fantastic on you! I agree, you did a great job of lengthening it just a bit and waist shaping is almost always a good thing in my book. Looks like the perfect top for spring and summer, enjoy!

Hey it looks great! I love the color. I'm hoping to find out: does the front neckline lie lower than the back neckline, or are they lined up like pivoli? Thanks a bunch for your pointers. -jing

The Green Gable looks great -- what a perfect fit! Does the yarn feel heavy on? Trying to plan summer knitting projects.

Your GG turned out perfectly! Where did you begin your increases on the waist shaping (i'm making the same size as you so I'm curious about making some mods)? I've been reading that people think the decreases are too close together as well. Great job though!
