Chinatown, Salina and two cats

We went down to Chinatown this morning to eat dim sum with some friends. Tasty! No photos, but the place we went to is the formidable Empress Pavilion. I remember going here about 20 years ago with my family. Luckily, we got there early so we didn't have to wait in line. Lots of dumplings and other tasties. The dining room is huge and the noise level even bigger. But you can get lots of food pretty cheap.

Afterwards, we went by our friends Chris and Sarita's house and were greeted (well, sort of) by their cats, Pump and Sprout. Rob even took photos!

Pump is notoriously unfriendly and this was the first time she didn't hiss at me after... 8 years of knowing her? A big step.

Sprout likes to be outdoors and roll around in the dirt. Sweet but not so clean.

And, I finally finished Salina! (Yay, yay!)

Pattern: Rowan Vintage Style
Yarn: Rowan Felted Tweed in Crush
I made the smallest size. I can't even keep track of how long this sweater took me (a long time). I love the way the yarn knitted up and I'm really happy with the final product. I really really like Rowan patterns. They're pretty clear once you get used to the wording and there don't seem to be any major mistakes. I think this book has lots of great patterns that are versatile.

A better photo of the neckline and body.

The only part of the sweater I modified were the cuffs. They are meant to be folded over but open on the end. Hard to explain but the cuffs kept flopping open so I just sewed them up in the end. This was a rewarding project but I think my next couple of knits will be easy bags or totes.

nice sweater.
so that's what the pump looks like. i've never seen her out in the open - she's usually crouching under a chair, growling.
