Last FO of 2005!!!!

Thank you for your comments on the Transitions sweater. I would like to be able to respond to each comment, but Blogger doesn't have that handy dandy emailing-the-commenter-back feature like other blogging software does. So please know that I really appreciate every comment! I wore my sweater the other day and it was nice and cozy. I can tell that the sweater will not pill and it will last FOREVER.

Mariko asked:
It's not itchy on your neck?
No, only because I don't really have sensitive skin. I also made an effort to put the softest yarn (which is the purple yarn) around my neck. Here's my final FO of the year, also not itchy around my neck.

It's a version of the Purl Scarf from Last Minute Knitted Gifts that I made from 1.5 balls of Colinette Prism in Raphael and 2 balls of Jo Sharp Rare Comfort Mohair Infusion in Chai that I received most happily from Blossom in a button trade.

Unki likes the fringe.

So, I tend to get slightly obsessed with figuring out my next project. Is anyone else like that? I tend to do more research than actual knitting or, in this case, sewing. My next project is to sew Rob a messenger bag. Yipes. I literally spent two hours last night in bed thinking about how it'll be constructed. I decided to first make myself one and then fine tune it for Rob.

Fortunately, here's one of my Christmas presents from Rob:

A rotary cutter and a cutting board! This has changed my sewing world. I can actually cut pieces without needing a pattern. I am basing the messenger bag on a Jack Spade bag that our friend received for Christmas.

The pieces of my bag, all interfaced up and ready to sew. But first I'm going to add some pockets and such before the bag gets constructed. And I need some webbing. And some velcro. Oh, and some zippers. I wonder how it's going to turn out????

Ooooooh! Good luck with the bag! I really need a mat and a rotary cutter too! Even with the pattern, I can't cut straight and always have to end up adjusting everything. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Happy New Year!
